Our very good friends Carl and Jenna came to visit us this month. Carl graduated from Utah State and to celebrate they came to see us!! We have been planning this trip with them since we decided to move here and none of us could believe that it all worked out. We had a great time. It is going to take A LONG time to post the entire trip that we did with them. They flew into London and we picked them up and then took the ferry from England to France. We spent a few days in Paris and then flew to Rome and spent 4 nights in Rome. We then flew back to Paris and took the ferry back to England. Carl and Jenna then spent some time with us here in England before flying back home to the U.S.A. It was a trip of a lifetime, and we were all so happy that we were able to make it happen! Here are our pictures from day one.
We took the ferry from Dover, we got a good view of the White Cliffs.
Carl and Jenna on the ferry, doing very well with their jet lag
We had to buy some special things for driving our English car in France. It was interesting driving on the right side of the road in France in a car with the stearing wheel on the right side too, Kevin did a great job getting us around.
We got completely lost on our way from the ferry into Paris. Our GPS somehow lead us to Belguim! It took up most of our day trying to find out way the good ol' fashioned way with maps.
When we finally made it into Paris, we only had a short time in the day before dark. We were able to see the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumph. We then had to figure out a way to get back to our hotel in the dark with our maps. We were lost FOREVER before we finally got our GPS working again.
Our first day was so much fun becuase we had so much to look forward to on our trip ahead of us. We only got to see a few things, but being with such good friends in Paris was a blast. We took over a thousand pictures after these first few that we got the first day, so it's going to take me awhile to sort through them all and decide which ones are "blog worthy".
